Tracking, Monitoring, and Alerting Product Shipments in Real Time: Introducing SenseIT IoT

Domain, a partner of SAP, would like to introduce you to their newest business-enhancing information technology solution: SenseIT IoT. SenseIT is a collection of cellular sensors and analytical reports that allow businesses such as yours to track shipments and product handling conditions in real-time.  With SenseIT, you’ll see exactly where the truck, plane, train, or ship is that is transporting your product, as well as the condition of the product.  SenseIT is designed specifically for manufacturers and distributors alike to track and protect their valuable property in real time with precision and ease.

To get into more detail, SenseIT aggregates shipment information with sensor tracking data from around the globe, and leverages the power of SAP HANA in the cloud to generate immediate alerts and to formulate vital analytics over time.  The program then automatically formats the data into easy-to-use reports.  Another feature of this application is the real-time map.  The map allows you to visualize all of your active shipments geospatially and click on individual shipments to view the sensor readings for that product or product group since the last sensor message.  Any shipments that are in distress are displayed in red, letting you know which shipment(s) need immediate attention. The analytical reports and maps can be replayed message by message, shared, printed, or sliced and diced for a more detailed understanding of the information.

If you have a shipment that is distressed, SenseIT will send you a virtually instantaneous alert regarding the situation, including details of the event, such as time, location, and cause, allowing you to take action to salvage the shipment.  Furthermore, using trend-tracking technology, SenseIT can enable your business to avoid certain product threatening conditions.  Trends are based on factors such as temperature, humidity, tilt and acceleration (shock).  For example, if a sensor on the truck carrying your product is reading and reporting increasingly warmer temperatures as it travels its route, which also is getting warmer, SenseIT will alert you that your shipment is trending towards temperatures that are too hot for the product.  The alert will allow you to be proactive, rather than having to experience the devastation of losing valuable product.

After completion of a product shipment, SenseIT automatically produces a COPH, or a Certificate of Project Handling. The COPH lists shipment details such as start and stop date and time, maximum and minimum sensor readings, including GPS location of the product at the time of the message. The COPH provides you with concrete information to supply to your customer or, in the case of product damage, to  support claims regarding mistreatment of a shipment by the carrier.

SenseIT utilizes a combination of recorded shipment information and sensor data to provide visibility of shipments in real-time, allowing for corrections to be made immediately, minimizing property damage.  SenseIT allows businesses to be proactive by providing organized data in a way that enables end users to analyze freight carrier performance at the touch of a button.  Using the knowledge provided by the SenseIT solution will allow you to look into the future, putting you ahead of the competition.

Domain specialists are looking forward to speaking with you and your colleagues about how this solution can greatly enhance your manufacturing or distribution business, making it even more profitable than ever.
